Thank you for visiting our blog.

This book was created for the purpose of disseminating information in a truly unique and efficient way, in a format reflecting that of a scholarly work written with the quality of a textbook, but also allows the book to read almost as a novel, complete with emotion, subtext and potent literary understanding. This book was an achievement four years in the making, and we hope that it will resonate with you as much as the immense work that we have put into it.In one of the most unique and innovative representations of Muslim history to date, Shattered: The Sectarian Divide and Start of the Feminist Revolution in Islam, the new non-fiction book by Syed Abbas Rizvi and S. Khasim T. Rizvi, explores the genesis of the collapse of the original Islam of Mohammad at the core of the split between Shia and Sunni Muslims alongside one of the most powerful struggles for women’s rights – the struggle led by Fatima, the daughter of Mohammad.

Below is the press release of our book for your viewing pleasure:

In the face of the sectarian violence occurring in the Middle East today, Shattered: The Sectarian Divide and Start of the Feminist Revolution in Islam takes readers back to Arabia circa 570 A.D. – a period of anarchy, lawlessness, misogyny and mistreatment of women – to the very origins of this deep divide between the Muslim people.

The authors trace the events surrounding the split in the history of Islam and its increased fragmentation over time, along with its current status and Islam’s future outlook. They tackle the concepts of freedom in Islam, human rights, women’s rights, modernist and reformist views and their place in Islam. In their concluding remarks about the presence of Islam’s past in the present, the authors write:

For four years after the fall of Iraq, Al Qaeda and Bin Laden operatives from Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Jordan that were responsible for the attacks of 9/11 have terrorized and killed thousands. The gruesome, chilling beheading of journalist Daniel Perle and many others ought to be condemned by all versions of Islam. These acts of cruelty by Al-Qaeda and the Taliban trace their origins to the Wahabi trademark of misguided interpretations of the Quran, Sunnah, and ahadith. Karbala, a dark, frightening chapter in the history of Islam which resulted in the murder of the paragon of Islam and the grandson of Muhammad, Husain Ibn Ali, by a dictator, Yazid – the grandson of Abu Sufyan, cousin of Uthman (third Khalifa) – is a reminder of the deep-seated roots of such terror. …

That voice of Fatima still produces giant ripples as it gains momentum and amplitude with time. Her voice still triggers chills among the oppressors and despots. Echoes of her voice still induce crisp doses of energy to human rights, adding nuances to a classic revolutionary movement that she started centuries back. The revolutionary message transmitted by her speech for the claim of Fadak has become the voice of every woman, regardless of her nationality, creed, class, and culture. History has tried to turn its face away from its despicable indignations of past injustices inflicted upon women, but the explosive growth of this movement begun by Fatima has kept its resilience strong.
